First Day of School!

I can't believe the summer is over! The girls had their first day of school last Thursday. Everyone was very, very excited to hear that they have Mrs. Held as their teacher this year! I think I was more anxious than they were!
Here's a traditional first day of school shot!

As you can see, Hannah is still wearing her sunglasses and probably will for a while. We had an exam under anesthesia the Friday before school started and was able to be measured for a contact lens. The contact lens specialist was wonderful...he is a pediatric specialist and was very, very knowledgeable, not only about the eye element, but the psychology of injured children, too. We are taking it slowly and hopefully she will be fitted for a lens in the next week or so. This should help with her sensitivity to light as well as give her eye the ability to focus.
I am back at work 4 days a week, and loving it!! :-D

More Hannah news

Well, things aren't going to be as simple as we anticipated. We are going to have to have another exam under anesthesia -- hopefully to be scheduled before school starts. They should be able to measure her vision and get a contact measured. There is some debate as to whether she will need to wear glasses as well as a contact for a 'bifocal' effect. We'll see when she gets fitted for the contact.
On the fun side, we all went to Great America and had a blast. Stan, Sarah and Emma rode all the roller coasters! Hannah and I preferred the more sedate rides, but still had lots of fun!
School starts the 21st - I know I can't wait!
